The Birthday Celebrations ContinueToday we celebrated my niece Sophie's birthday. She turned 3. She is just adorable.

(Lauren & Jessica)
We ate hamburgers for lunch.

(Margaret, Sylvia & Andrew)
We sat in some Winter sunshine to watch Sophie open her gifts.

(Bronwynne & her girls)

(Stephen & Lauren)

We ate pink cupcakes.

(Madeleine & Stephen)
The kids enjoyed some sparklers.

It was lovely having lunch together. A warm and peaceful day.

It was our first birthday lunch together since John died, and he was missed.

It will be at times like family lunches that the loss of dad/grandfather/brother/husband will be felt keenly.

She is a beautiful little girl. If she came to the states...she would have a summer birthday and you could all sit in summer sunshine.

You feel your loss acutely right now. In years to come it will turn to a warmer memory...with more people to love (like Bronwyn's new baby).

Sparklers on the couch? Pink cupcakes? Winter temperatures? I think I want to come to Australia ;)!

So glad to see such a happy family bunch enjoying one another's company.

Thanks for stopping by my blog! I have not had the chance to read Into The Wild yet but really really want to. Books are always better than the movies. But that movie is definitely ranked as one of my top favs. =)

I heart the pink cupcakes and the piggy...how cute! Looks like a great time!
