Lauren had a pyjama party to celebrate her birthday.

The girls cooked pizzas.

Lauren helped me make some cupcakes for her party.

Yum!!

The Bay Walk ... or walking our butts off (literally).
In the interest of fitness and weight loss, Heather, Linda and I walked the Bay walk yesterday.
7kms

It was so pleasant!
I'll take my camera next time.

Revisiting Me
You may remember last year my son won an art prize with a portrait of me.
One of my daughters came home excited because she had seen it (very briefly) on TV this week on an episode of Behind the News.
How fun!

4 Weeks??
• The appearance of fine lines is visibly reduced within hours
• Expression wrinkles are minimised within 3 weeks
• The appearance of deeper wrinkles is reduced in only 4 weeks

These jars of cream make bold statements.
And I am going to put this one to the test.

Now, some are horrified by the next fact:
I never put any sort of cream on my face, AND the only cleansing routine I have is soap and water in the shower of an evening.

Anyways... I found this jar on sale today, whilst search for a drain clearing product, and thought I may give it a try.

And why the sudden need to apply cream?
I have been watching this show.
And, I am beginning to think that maybe some more care is needed in my 40s.

I'll let you know if it works.

John Hughes
The name John Hughes conjures up images of my high school years for two reasons:
Firstly, it was the name of my Year Master and English teacher;
And secondly, it was the name of the director of all my favourite movies at that time.

I just learnt that the latter John Hughes recently passed away at the age of 59.

He really did define the 80s.
I'm sure we have all seen most of these films:
Mr. Mom
National Lampoon's Vacation
Sixteen Candles
The Breakfast Club
The Great Outdoors
National Lampoon's European Vacation
Weird Science
Pretty in Pink
Ferris Bueller's Day Off
Some Kind of Wonderful
Planes, Trains and Automobiles
She's Having a Baby
Uncle Buck
National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation
Home Alone (Directed Part 1, wrote Part 2)
Career Opportunities
Dutch
Curly Sue
Beethoven
101 Dalmatians

I think that a John Hughes movie marathon is in order... starting with the Breakfast Club.

New Vocab
Just updating those who are over the age of 20...

This is how a conversation went in my class this week:

Student: Mrs P, can you check my story please?
Me: Yes, mmmmm... very good, but you have a spelling error here. What is this word? (pointing to something unintelligible spelt PWN)
Student: No, it is spelt correctly.
Me: No, all words need a vowel in them.
Student: They do?
Me: Yes.
(Various conversations reciting spelling rules occur in the background.)
Student: But it is spelt correctly.
Me: What???? How do you say it?
Student: pone
Me: You are kidding! (Gesturing to others nearby hoping for some backup.) What does this word say everyone?
Students (10 or so in chorus): PONE

Confused? I was.
Well here it is:
PWN (verb) 1. An act of dominating an opponent. 2. Great, ingenious; applied to methods and objects.
You can learn more here. And there is a popular (IE. all the class knew of it) clip explaining its use here.

That brings us to the word noob...

Son
I love this photo of Oliver I took on the weekend.
He really is the best son anyone could hope for.

Sophie is 4
My niece Sophie turned 4 on the weekend, and she had a S party to celebrate.

Lauren went as a shooting star.

Oliver went as Spiderman.

And Maddy as a superhero (rainbow style of course).

I think Jess was a spotty fairy (what a terrible aunt not to know!)
