Remembering Henry
The tibouchina at our back door is always in flower when it is Henry's birthday.

It is one of the many things that evoke strong and emotional memories.

Rebound Books
I found this site whilst looking for a diary during March.

Yes, I already had one but just was not satisfied with it... it didn't tick all the boxes. AND the good thing about buying a diary in March is that they are heavily discounted. Unfortunately these weren't so I didn't indulge. But next year I may suggest it as a gift idea...

They make all sort of products - journals, sketchbooks, photo albums, diaries, pocket books and bookmarks - using recycled materials.
It was the Little Golden books that first caught my eye.

For the Love of Stationery
Last weekend whilst shopping in Canberra, we visited many stationery stores.
I love stationery stores!!
I visited my first Smiggle shop - a place spoken of with revered tones by a group of girls in my class - and was not disappointed.

Then we discovered Typo.
Oh heaven, with their wall stickers and wooden letters, their bird pegs and paper clips...

Some exciting news - I discovered yesterday a Typo store has just moved into a shopping center near me.
Yes, be expecting a lot of gifts to be bought from there now folks! (But not the rude ones.)

Masterpieces in Canberra
Last weekend I went to Canberra with 3 friends to see the Masterpieces from Paris.

We had breakfast on the way at the Elephant Boy Cafe in Bowral.

After seeing how long the line was outside the art gallery, we decided to drive to the Australian War Memorial for coffee and a look around.
Then back to the art gallery.
We waited in line for 2 hours.
Apparently there are approximately 10 000 people looking through the exhibition every day.
We finally made it...
and it was worth the wait.
I surprised myself by literally tearing up when I saw the paintings by Van Gogh. Posters or pictures just don't do them justice. They were visually stunning, the colours so bright.
The next day, after a fun night of all sorts of shenanigans, we visited the outside of Parliament House (just to say we had been there), and went shopping (because what girl's weekend away is complete without shopping!!), and then began the journey home.
Only to be stuck for 1 & 1/2 hours in a traffic jam just outside Goulburn.
