Book Depository

I was searching for 2012's diary when this captured my attention - the Book Depository's books of the year in colour.
So pretty. And if I had the patience, so interesting.

I ended up choosing this diary. I used a "posh planner" this year and it was a great diary. I liked the look of this one as it includes two years (and has a bird on the cover).

Backyard cricket

...until it gets too dark to see.

Nerf Gun

Oliver used his pocket money in the post Christmas sales to buy himself another Nerf gun.
After some searching in crowded department stores, the VULCAN was located, and at a good price.

Over the past 2 day everything and everyone has been shot - especially his sisters.

When I began to have babies I idealistically thought that we would have no guns in the house... oh well.

Rocket's Christmas

Rocket was excited to find that Santa had brought him a pig's ear (eeeewwww!) for Christmas.
He did need some help to get it out of his stocking.

Boxing Day

Andrew's side of the family came to us last night for Christmas celebrations.
More festivities, food and gifts.
I love Christmas!

Thanks for making all the wonderful table decorations Bronwynne, and all the prawns (I had leftovers tonight - yum). Thanks for sharing your gingerbread house Sophie, and for the delicious pudding Sylvia - Christmas just would not be the same without it.

It was sad to not have Aunty Margaret with us. She recently passed away, but we know she is now safe with Jesus.

I am so fortunate to have such wonderful families to celebrate with.

Christmas Day

We spent Christmas Day this year at my sister Philly's house.
The day was marked by:
* lots of eating - coconut prawns, calamari, roast beef, turkey, salads, and mum's yummy desserts,(Thanks Philly for all the cooking you did. It was delicious.)
* opening gifts,
* backyard cricket, and
* snoozing on the couch.

We missed Dad however - he is recovering from a stroke in hospital. We visited him on Christmas Eve, and Philly & her family are visiting him today (Boxing Day).

Off to the markets

This morning I went to Flemington Markets with Monika, a friend from work.
It was a fantastic experience.
We looked through the flower markets and admired the displays.
We fossicked through the flea market, and I bought clothes and shoes for the girls.
We moved on to the produce, and filled our trolleys.
So many things to buy. So cheap! I'm definitely going back.

It's been a long time since I blogged!

I have been away for awhile. I'll try to do better.

Since we began the process of renovating last year there has always been something else to do (and there still is, but it has slowed down somewhat now).

Now the Spring school holidays are drawing to an end and I have managed to actually spend some time in the garden - it was a jungle in parts after being neglected for over a year - and that has been very therapeutic.

The following are some photos from a recent visit to my Mum & Dad's place:

Knitting

I found some wonderful bobble yarn this afternoon, and am now enjoying sitting in front of a warm heater and knitting.

Loving Laurel's haiku

I have just discovered a Haiku poetry site.

It is lovely.

The author Laurel (or Miss Haiku) writes her own poems, and features some guest poets too.

A New App (for me anyway)

I found an app for my phone that I think is going to be a lot of fun, and very useful.

Now I can blog from my phone!!

I love my phone:)

Rimwood Farm

We have just returned from our annual farm holiday.

It was Rocket's first taste of farm life.
The cows provided lots of entertainment... even when in the far distance.

He found a stash of old bones...

And enjoyed the camaraderie of the bonfire...

My gorgeous sister and her family

My sister recently had photos taken by Lisa (my cousin's wife). There are a few here on Lisa's web site. If you are looking for a photographer in the Sydney area, you have to go with Lisa. She takes absolutely beautiful pictures. www.bylisajay.com

Keith Urban

Last night I had the wonderful experience of seeing Keith Urban perform. I sat with the lovely Amanda. Other friends were elsewhere.

He was such a nice person!! Very chatty and personable. I was actually surprised at his Australian accent - I think he sounds very American when he sings, and I just imagined him to have that twang when speaking.

He often left the stage to sing in various parts of the audience, and even gave one of his guitars to someone he was singing near at one time. Lucky man.

Although it was a great concert, the sound was loud and harsh - maybe bad acoustics in the Entertainment Center?!?

And Amanda and I were very disappointed Nicole didn't make an appearance. That would have topped off a fabulous evening.

Thanks Vanessa & Sean xxx

Painting

The magnificent autumnal weather has caused me to abandon the indoor painting of skirting boards, door frames etc., and attack the garage. And I have had some keen helpers. I don't mind the kids helping outside... it doesn't matter if the paint splatters around them.

It is messy work.

Giraffe Biscuits & Other Stuff

I have found that I spend a lot more time in the kitchen these days. It is all so new, and open, and new, and clean, and new.
I love it.
We baked biscuits on Saturday. My favourite were the giraffe shaped ones.

I have not been around computer land recently. Life seems to be extremely busy.
Plus I am probably hanging out in my kitchen. Did I mention it is new?
Last week I was really stressed out with life and how busy it seemed to be, but recent world events certainly put an end to those thoughts. I have NOTHING to complain about. In fact, I have everything to give thanks for.
I live on solid ground. My house still stands. I am not surrounded by water or debris. My family are all safe.
As I watch the scenes from Queensland, Christchurch and now Japan there are no words. Unbelievable.
